Hong Kong 2010: Day 1 @ TST/Mongkok

Since last year we didn't make it for our HK trip, so this year I have planned again for dear dear's birthday.

With the bad experience with budget airline, we have decided to go for SIA and proven we have made the right choice!

Reached HK around 130pm, checked out at the airport, initial plan was to take the hotel bus from airport which cost HKD130 per person. After checking with the hotel staff at airport, we had to wait for half an hour for the bus and the journey take about 1 hour and 20 mins. So we decided to take a cab to our hotel, the journey only took 30 mins and cost less than HKD260 (cheaper than the hotel bus service).

Reached Harbour Plaza Metropolis (opposite Hong Hum station) around 3pm, checked in room # 1639. Quite a big room (considered we were at HK where every place is small small small). Unpacked all the stuff and start to explore this busy but charming city!

The hotel has provided free shuttle bus service to Tsim Sha Tsui MTR station. It will stop at Kowloon hotel. We bought the Octopus Card which can use for public transport from MTR, buses and trams. One for HKD150 where HKD100 for use & HKD50 for redundable deposit. From TST MTR station, Exit A1 to Harbour City(海港城). First thing is to find food!!! Since we were heading for the famous dessert at the foodcourt, so decided to have late lunch (although we had lunch at the airplane, but even SIA meal so so only). Dear dear ordered wantan soup noodles and i had 旦旦面. Then followed by famous dessert from Honeymoon Dessert(满记甜品). We ordered 杨枝甘露 and 榴槤白雪凉粉.

Walked down to Avenue of Stars(星光大道) to see the hand prints of HK stars..but dd dunno most of them LOL! It was abit hazy so the night view at Victoria Harbour just so so. We waited the Symphony of Lights started at 8pm, which last about 10 mins.

Met up with CC then took MTR to Mongkok. Our initial plan is to have the famous tim sum at 添好運點心專門店, but too bad all ticket sold out. In HK, those famous eating places will issue ticket for customers. So hopefully the next trip we can make it for their famous crispy char siu pao.

End up dinner at Teochew restuarant (标记乐园潮洲面菜馆)which is really good. After dinner, we shop around Mongkok area (女人街, 花园街,西洋菜街). All shops still open till 12am which never happened in Singapore!
